brooklyn's popular weekly smorgasburg market opened in LA at the alameda produce market! the weather was over 100 degrees, but there were still lots of people out to get their bagels, lobsters, pizza, ramen burgers, coffee, noodle bowls, tacos, banh mi, hot dogs, poke, popsicles, etc!
the beautiful new civil coffee opened in highland park a couple weekends ago and we went on opening day to check it out!

we needed a pick-me-up on a hot saturday afternoon, so we ventured over to the newly opened location of blue bottle coffee in echo park. the space in the historic jensen recreation building and is a bright, clean, industrial space filled with natural light and lots of seating options.
it took some time before i could commit to at least two hours of driving just for coffee and doughnuts. but this past saturday, we finally did it!
this past saturday was a rainy one, which is pretty rare in this city. we had no plans, so after sleeping in i was looking forward to something new and tasty, and everything i'd read about newly opened ostrich farm fit the bill. we were not disappointed!
