hi!

i love to eat and travel and document as much of it as i can.

dear john's, culver city.

earlier this month, the LA Times reported that dear john’s managed to strike a deal with the landlord to extend their lease for another 5 years instead of shutting down. it’s been nearly 2 years since we had dinner on their makeshift pandemic patio.

we haven’t dined inside, but i loved that they tried to make the outside reflect the cozy, classic hollywood steakhouse vibes that they are famous for indoors. this was one of frank sinatra’s favorite spots after all.

old fashioned (bourbon, palm sugar, angostura, orange bitters) for him; hemingway (rum, grapefruit, maraschino, lime) for me.

iceberg wedge, tomato, bacon, blue cheese.

shrimp cocktail.

we’re total suckers for an old-school steakhouse. we both love a wedge salad and a shrimp cocktail so much, and they are excellent here. the spaghetti & clams, steak and creamed spinach were also all on point. it was pretty much a perfect meal.

frank’s spaghetti & clams.

new york strip.

side of creamed spinach.

dessert (i don’t remember what exactly! chocolate, peanut butter, ice cream! it was delicious)
